Wiring new headlight - too many wires
I bought a new headlight for my 2007 1200C. It is identical to this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chrom...item1e614e262c The stock headlight had one white, one yellow, and one black wire. The new headlight has one white, two black, and two yellow wires. Any ideas?? |
Yeah - start touching wires together until you get your light working :)

Sounds like the extra wires are for the hi/low. one set to power the high beam and one set to power the low beam. I bet if you hook one set up the low will work and if you hook up the other set the high will work. Maybe!
Tie all like colors together and see what happens! |
Maybe you can open the light up and see where the wires go. If any go to the housing or the metal part of the bulb, they are ground. The H4 bulb should have 3 tabs on the base of the bulb, High/Low/Ground. Not sure where the 4th one would go to.

basically run both those black wires to the single black wire on your bike, both yellow to the yellow on your bike, and both whites together, then turn it on and check that you have high and low, its not rocket science, i bet it works fine like that. I have that very same light on its way to me now, cant wait to get it.

If the new light uses an H4 bulb, easiest way is to just reuse the old harness.

One set of black and yellow are for side running lights (if you had them) just cap off or pull back into bucket and cap off
