Default 19" wheel for XLC

I'm considering swapping the stock front 21" wheel for a 19". I think it might look better with the mid glide trees. I need to replace my front tire soon, so I may just switch instead.

I'm considering the one below. Do you think it will fit? What width tire will the stock XLC front fender accomodate?

I have a 2004 XLC with the 3/4 axle.

Thanks.

I don't have any answers for you, but I switched to the 19" tire and wheel. You might can tell from the picture the answer to the question you are asking.

A 100/90-19 (stock size for Sporties with 19" wheels) tire is about as wide as you can go and still clear the fender without any modifications.

You'll love getting ~3 times the mileage out of the 19 as compared to the skinny 21, not to mention, much better handling.

I decided to buy the wheel, I'll pick up a Metz 880 for it soon.

If I got 10K + out of the 21" Metz, the 19 should last quite a while.

Got the wheel yesterday and took a close look at it today. The width of the hub (from bearing to bearing) is 6.5". I measured around 4.75 on the stock wheel.

When I went to a mid glide setup, I installed axle spacers on either side of the wheel and a spacer to mount the rotor disc. I'm wondering if I'll need these spacers with the new wheel. This wheel was advertised for a Softail standard or WG. I'm begining to wonder if it'll work on my bike.

Also the mounting flange for the rotor isn't threaded. Is there some alternate mount on the Softail or Dyna model that I'm not aware of? Or is it necessary to tap these holes on a new wheel?

Oh yeah! I get 30,000 miles on the front Metz 880 with a 19" wheel.

Measured the space between the sliders and it's not wide enough to fit the wheel.

Fortunately there is a 14 day return policy...

Returned the other wheel and got the replacement last week. Over the past few days I got the spacers and had the tire mounted today.

Put it on and took it for a quick 10 mile ride. I like it so far. A few pics...
