Add a 12volt power source to your sportster / nightster

Help
I did this mod and got it to work fine; but in a real time of need it didn't work. What's happening now is, when i connect my phone charger to the outlet unit, it blows a fuse or something in the phone charger, thereby killing the charger. I've gone through 2 chargers already.
I've checked the fuses and re-attached the cables; all seems fine.
Any thoughts?

Hey Guys, I've done this to all my previous bikes, so I figured I share it with you.
It's just a good thing to have in case of emergencies, esp if you need to charge your cell phone or power a small air compressor or GPS while ur on the road.
This is a safer way as opposed to just attaching it to the battery tender lead. This will only provide power to your 12volt receptacle when the key is on IGN (ignition) ON or in the ACC position. I chose a location under the tank, because its less visible also shield against rain/ weather. But you can choose a location you want. Anyway here are the pics...I labeled each one, step by step. Hope you guys find this useful. Ride Safe everyone!
***GUYS I know the easiest way is to attach it to the battery tender lead, but by doing this you're risking running down the battery. (remember that tender lead is supplying constant power to whatever you plug into it.) With this Mod it will only supply power to the 12volt receptacle ONLY when ignition key is ON or on ACC position. Hence, soon as you turn engine off and grab your keys- No worries.***

Easiest thing to do.
Depends on how much money you want to spend.
Since I rarely go on long road trips, I bought a cheap 12V outlet and soldered some terminals on the wire, plugged in a USB adapter that I already had, used a little black duct tape to hold it together, and zip-tied it to my bar risers.
$6.99 at HF and an hour to solder, hookup and zip-tie.
Easy-peazy. Though I might put a disconnect in the line so I can hookup or unhook it without having to pull out the battery.

Easy and probably fun to make but I just bought the AG XP1 and XP3 since it came with everything you need. I always carry the XP3 in my saddlebag and the XP1 in my car. It came with this connector so I can easily place it on a tender or use it to jump. Just piece of mind in case bike doesn't start in the middle of nowhere or if someone is stranded and needs a jump start. These can jump motorcycles, cars, and trucks many times over on one charge. It can also charge laptops, ipads, cell phones, etc. I also have an AG 16 cell 480CCA battery so kinda not worried about issues with my battery.
Edit: Also can't see the pics...can the OP post pics that are visible?
