Default Can a used smart security system be used again?

Dear HOGs, I bought a used set of smart security system from eBay for my new Sportster 883R. But the dealer told me that the set was programed and linked to one particular computer and they could not unlock them. So the system can not be reused. And the fob does not have the codes on it so the fob can not be reprogramed as well.

I am a bit skeptical to their allegations. Does it mean that the TSSM can not be used by another bike once programed? And there is no way to reprogram the fob if its codes are lost?

Looking forward to your inputs.

Thanks!

Not sure, but I would think that the code is in or on the fob somewhere or a number to cross reference through the manufacturer or stealer with proof of bike ownership. also I would think that the security system is a self contained unit that just plugs or hard wires in to kill the engine and sound horn.
On a lighter note you could rig a relay to some Symtech (C4) but I wouldn't recommend it. just kidding

That "married to the bike" issue is true for Screamin Eagle Race/Super Tuners, but I don't think it applies to the alarm systems. Plug it in and see what happens. Here are the install instructions, but they aren't much help:

Install it and program it according to these instructions from NRHS.

He's installing a Smart Security System, not a tuner. I only mentioned the tuners because that's what may be confusing the OP's dealer. I don't think there will be a problem with the alarm. I don't remember hearing about any. Maybe call another dealer. I was a parts monkey at a dealer, but I could be wrong.

The programming sequence is the same for the ignition module and the security module. I used these exact directions when I installed a security system on my bike and they worked perfectly.

It is not married to ECM, I removed factory ECM and replaced it with ThunderMax and security is still working.
I'd contact the seller and ask for fob serial numbers, just in case. I have stickers in my owners manual with serial numbers for both fobs.

That si the exct sequence I used to instal the TSSM for my HD security system.
There is another sequence to set YOUR password, and another to mate the key fob to the TSSM.
You will want to have the bike on a tender and a coolser handy. You will be an hour getting everything done if you get it done right the first time.
