Default Old School narrow springer!

I picked up this old school 7/8" neck narrow springer a while back.

Pressed the 1" neck out of an old tree.

Removed the 7/8" neck from the springer, enlarged the holes to accomodate the 1" neck and now I need to make some old school bars to compliment my kick *** springer!

I think I might shorten the legs a couple of inches but right now I'm just diggin it!

Thanks!

Ha ha...nope! Check out what I did with these old bars...

Started with a brand new set of humongous apes that have been hanging above my compressor forever, marked cut lines & separated the pieces I want from it.

[IMG][/IMG]

I wanted to bend them forward & keep the 12" tall but when I test fit them I realized I'm partial to short bars.

Here they are cut to the final length & drilled to plug weld.

[IMG][/IMG]

This may be fopaux but I've gone this route in a similar fastener application and it holds up well as long as you understand the material...all thread connectors as slug bungs.

[IMG][/IMG]

I had to taper the ends to get them flush with the bottoms of the bars.

[IMG][/IMG]

Welded in

[IMG][/IMG]

Cleaned em up (threads included)

[IMG][/IMG]

Made a template

Made the piece

[IMG][/IMG]

Welded it in & drilled holes

This worked well as a headlight mount on my drop seat and I'm using a similar headlight. It's a front transverse leaf spring shackle I use on late 20's frame builds.

Bolted up with the headlight stand-off attached

Ha ha! Thanks guys!

My neighbors have NO idea what I do! They think I'm a recluse. Shades always drawn, in the shop all night, never home during the day...I always see them head bobbing trying to look in my garage on the rare occassion I have the door open when they drive by.
