130 front tire in a narrow glide and SIMPLE rigid struts
 

I couldn't take it anymore so I had to give it a go.

A while back I had Buchanan's make a set of spokes for me so I could lace a stock Sportster front hub to a 16x3 wheel. Here's a pic with that wheel next to a stock rear wheel...etched & ready to powdercoat.

Sent them to JRK (from here) to powdercoat since my oven isn't big enough for an assembled wheel. When I got em back I mounted some old school double white wall tires.

Locked a spare front end on the table.

Located the areas in need of clearance. You can see here how small of an area needs work.

I knew how much I could remove for tire clearance because I cut a spare tube in half where I would be filing to get an accurate measurement.

I secured the area I filed at TDC with a piece of angle clamped to the fender mounts.

I'm not graceful with a file. I was mostly concerned with keeping my filing level as to not remove anything unnecessary.

I'd file for a few then check with a level and a straight edge. I ended up removing 3/32 from each slider. My sliders are 1/4" wall so their thinnest point is more than half the thickness it was originally.

I wanted to see both wheels on something so I took all of the leaf spring stuff off of my 93...but without the rear leaves I needed something there and I wanted it low.

I had these long Showa rear coil overs that stick. The shock rods are bent and that makes for a sketchy ride!

Compressed them so I could contain the coil low to disassemble the whole deal.

Squeezed them completely compressed. I didn't know I would think they were cool so when I take em back off I'll drill a hole in the shock body to drain the fluid then weld the unit compressed.

Dug out an old fender that I cut a while back and noticed that the sun had come up so I rolled the whole pile outside!

Thanks! Yeah, I thinnk installing a front fender would be an even bigger trick! I don't like the fender mounts on the 48's (no offense) because it looks like something they had to do once everything was all set up...I dig it fenderless though. Let everyone see my meat! lol.
