Default hello fork shifter
i am in PA 89 sportster 1200 26,000 miles it does not shift right i was tolled that it is my fork shifter i can not fix it myself let me know

Get a service manual for your year and make bike. Read the service manual for the procedure and decide for yourself.

The shift fork is adjustable but I believe it involves removal of the transmission. Please correct me if I am wrong.

so you were "tolled" huh? let you know what? how to fix it? so you want someone here to completely list a step by step how to on replacing the shifter fork shaft? you're smoking some good chit man! i suggest you get the repair manual like freebird said and decide whether or not your skilll level can complete the job. if not the part is fairly cheap so see what your local indy shop chrages for that. good luck.
