Default Popping and backfiring

Couple weeks ago, i went riding was fine for about 3 hours then all of a sudden it started backfiring and popping
Now i hear small pops coming out of carb area, the backfiring comes out of exhaust
When i give gas hard i get a quick pop then it goes, if i hold the throttle steady at a slow speed. It jerks, like hiccuping.
If i give it gas it goes, then throw in clutch to switch gears only to hear shotgun backfires coming from exhaust
It is just strange to me to start out of nowhere, any ideas? Im new so please be gentle thanks guys

Can be anything from a dying battery, failing charging system, bad seals on the intake or carb, and the list goes on and on. Great section in the troubleshooting area of the service manual about it.

Plus you also left off all the info about your bike? Is it a Honda Fury?

It's been a little bit since I've had a carbed bike...so I'm just taking an educated guess here. Any chance the jets are gunked up? Popping on any bike is usually, but not always a pretty good indicator of a lean condition from what I've learned. I would also check your plugs for the heck of it too.

I was told to put hotter plugs in, to burn off the excess gas, does this sound right?

Often popping and backfiring is caused by the timing being off the mark.

Take a look at your plugs too. A fresh set could be all you need.

I don't know if I'd go that route especially if it was running fine prior to your recent troubles. Too hot a plug and you run the risk of pre-ignition combustion. Just pull yours and see how they look. There are a lot of illustrated guides online to help you read them (I put a link down below). If they are cruddy looking, just replace them, it was time anyhow and they are cheap. It may not be your problem at all, but it's worth a look since it only takes a minute.

Check the simple stuff first. Check gas and tank. Took me 3 tanks to run through some bad gas I got a couple years ago.
