Default Long term effects of 1200 conversion?

Hey all,
Has anyone experienced any long term negative effects of doing the Stage 1 (or 2) 1200 conversion on their 883? I am concerned that modifying the engine for horsepower or torque would put undue stress on other areas of the bike.

I can appreciate the idea of getting a new 1200 bike instead, but I just wanted to know if there are any negatives associated with doing the conversion on an 883.

Thanks!

im also thinking about doing the 1200 conversion. I dont think there are any long term negative effects on the bike. tons of ppl have done the conversions and most problems i hear were with the cylinders.

Your bikes are identical to 1200's now sans different ratios here and there.

I've got over 11,000 hardcore miles on my stage 3 1250 build and she never misses a beat.

The only difference is the cylinder/piston size. So by doing the 1200 conversion you basically just have a stock 1200. No problem.

Main issue is which conversion that you use. There are cheap kits out there that have A LOT of issues with them.

If you are looking to bore, then it comes into question of how well the shop does it as well as the quality of their machine.

Best 2 kits I found during my research was the NRHS kit (http://www.nrhsperformance.com/ekit8831200.shtml) as well as the Harley Screaming Eagle kits.

I personally went with the SE kit just for warranty coverage, but if I was out of warranty I would have went with NRHS kit as Dan really strives to please.

LOL! Agreed, nothing bad if done right. The only bad thing that came from my 1200 was wanting more, so did another conversion to 1250

I have the NRHS 1250, but you can also check out www.Hammerperformance.com Long story but NRHS and Hammer have history with each other and GREAT service/costs (good history by the way)
