We've done dozens and it depends on how tall a tank lift. We have 1.5", 2", 2.5", and 3".

Usable capacity is reduced by 1/8 to 1/4 gallon...so maybe 5-10 miles of total range if you run to bone dry.

This LINK has more info on the subject.

I did 1.5 on mine and I get 72 miles and that was with some sputtering into the gas station. But my riding is mostly city.

wow, I get 60-65 miles to a tank on my bike with out a tank lift! I did a tank lift in 2010 and ran out of gas at 50 miles. I do have shorty pipes, open air cleaner, and a pCV on my bike. I originaly got 75 miles to a tank when I first bought my bike.

Did you actually run out? Sputter sputter, or did it quit running? Or was it just the light that cam on?

After you ran out at 50 miles did you fill the tank? If so, how much did it take?

Oh, and what size tank lift?

Want tank lift for my 91, but didn't even take into account that you lose mileage. I guess it's because the angle is changed therefore losing mileage. Hmmmm.

There isn't a way to do the "lift" and keep the angle so fuel mileage remains the same? Or is it that it doesn't look "right" keeping it angled?

If you hacked apart the rear tank bracket and welded it back together with a lift at the REAR, you could lift the whole tank vertically and not change the angle at all.

I know that DK said that with a 1.5" lift, which is enough to tuck the wires between the tank and frame rail, you only lose 1/8 of a gallon on the 3.3gal tank, not sure if that number would apply to the 2.1 gal tank on the 48.

Now, keep in mind that if a wire tuck is your goal, there are two things to keep in mind:

1) On the 48, you can get the wires in between the tank and frame rail with no lift. Many people have done this and posted about it.

2) On the 3.3 gallon tank (iron, nightster), you can do what I did, and hide the wires below the frame rail, without a lift:

Gotcha. Read a couple of your threads earlier (nice work BTW) and I would still like the lift, along with wire hiding. Makes for that much more of a cleaner look. I don't do any distance riding so the loss doesn't really effect me.
