Default The best performance engine mods for my Sportie 48!!

I'm looking to do some performance work to the engine. I've been going back and fourth between bore and stroke, or just doing heads, cam, and pistons. If you have any suggestions or experience with one over the other it would really help. Thanks!

Just bore. Stroking gives great power but at a big price. Including having to modify the frame for taller jugs. 100ci Sportsters are stroked but will not fit in a stock frame.

You can get over 100hp and torque with a 1250 bore, cams, head work and other mods.........

Look around NRHS's site for information. You can also call them and speak directly with the owner (Dan). He will advise you on what your trying to accomplish.

Thanks for the info!! I hear that people more often than not have some reliability issues with boring and stroking. A friend said that I could get some good power by just putting some buel blast heads with a cam and piston. What's your take?

Reliability issues are with Stroking and not Boring. You can get some great power with Stage 2 or 3 head work and Cams. You can go a 1250 kit without boring the cases. Dan @ NRHS can supply you with the kit combos that will be best for your style of riding.

80" and above kits will put you in the $5000 to $7000 range and aren't worth it for a Sportster.

Ummmmm the Buell blast was a 500cc bike the heads are useless and incompatible with any 1200's, even Buells.
