2000 Sporty 883 w/ 1200 conversion, Just one problem, the bike runs for 30-40 sec and the quits. Let her site for 5 min or so and she'll fire right up... and run again for a min then quit again... Maybe a plugged fillter/screen? Carb junk? I quess if I cant fix it she'll be rolln to a shop......

Thanks again!

Does it stay running if you roll on the throttle a bit?

Check all vacuum lines, petcock may not be opening with vacuum. My first guess would be a vacuum line is not connected or rotted.

My '04 did that same thing the other day. I had lifted up the tank to hide some wires and the vacuum line came unplugged from the bottom of the petcock. I hope yours is as easy to fix.

Yep, sounds like lack of vacuum allowing fuel to flow to the carb. The carb bowl fills back up and the bike runs until the bowl is empty again. Check the petcock vacuum lines, VOES, and maybe even loosen the gas cap to see if it will ruun longer.

Well I tore the carb out, soaked/sprayed it down with carb cleaner. Cleaned the petcock/fuel tank filter out. Hooked everything back up with new fuel line/vacuuum line new choke cable. She fired up and stayed running the whole time...took her for a spin an had no running issues!

BUT......when i shut her off i noticed fuel leaking out of the carb overflow tube at the bottom front of the bike. I shut off the petcock and it stopped. Is there a float bowl that may be hanging up..?

Thanks for all your help!

Some pics of the bike befor i start polishing her up!! got a full day elbow work ahead of me!
