Default Engine hit rev limiter!!!!!!!!!

Almost dropped my 1200 Sportster the other day and in the process of stopping it from falling I ended up with full throttle for about 4 seconds (in neutral, warm engine) with the engine revving against the rev limiter. Engine seems fine since, I guess that is what the limiter is for. Any thoughts?

i've hit the rev limiter in many cars, never on my bike, with no consequence. that being said i wouldn't make a habit of it either.

I used to bounce off the rev limiters on my sport bikes... never on my Harley

Unless Harley engines are **** there's nothing to worry about.

The rev limited is set lower than the max the bike can handle. You theoretically could bounce it off the rev limiter all day(if you could keep the engine cool enough) without damage however I don't suggest doing it. The ecu pulls timing and cuts off fuel to achieve the rpm drop. Dont sweat it. Now get out there and ride

I hit the rev limiter in 2nd gear all of the time when I am chasing after my buddy on his ZX-14.

My Kawasaki has found the rev limiter on many occasions. No issues ever. The thing is supposed to stop the motor from spinning beyond what is safe. Should be no issues for you.

Dude, the rev limiter is a shift indicator! Use that fugger! I hit that thing all the time (it's REALLY fun on the VROD at nearly 10,000 rpm)

Yeah no worries. I used to hit the rev limiter on my R6 on a regular basis, if you time it right you can shift without using the clutch.
