So, after years of wanting, I finally made it happen and bought myself a sportster: 1994 1200 XLH FOR only $3000 !!!

I'm starting this thread as a slow build thread, to show the progress as I go... enjoy

Here it is the day I bought it:

First thing I did was wash it and go through all the nuts and bolts. It was a good thing too because I found that it was missing the front two motor mount bolts!

Next, I hated the speedo and Tach on the bars, so I cut the cups out of the mounting bracket, drilled and rewired, and mounted it off the left highway peg.

As a side note, I've snapped two speedo cables since moving it. I'm currently researching and planning on doing a little custom application to switch it over to a digital gauge.

One day I found a sweet deal on craigslist for a Screamin Eagle AC, lowering blocks and tool bag for $40. I swooped on it installed the AC and then cut the cover to expose the element and get a little more air flow to it. Unfortunately the lowering blocks didn't fit so I need to drill some of the metal off and then I should be in business.

I got bored one weekend so I removed the license plate mount from the rear fender, heated it up, hammered the **** out of it, and mounted it to the left lower shock bolt. It's illegal cuz I don't have a light for it, but I haven't been pulled over yet. I figure it'll be fixed soon enough when I cut the fender and add a side mount tail light.

When I bought the bike I, the previous owner had a box of crap that he gave with it. It mainly was full of wires, oil, and random bolts. But there was also a set of these sweet little bomber style turn signals. So I just recently spent an afternoon installing them and removing most of the chrome from the rear.
