Default Riding in the rain

Put the panniers on and set out at the end of the afternoon to pick up a few bits at an out of town supermarket. Doh! Ran into the mother of all downpours. Captain Sensible would have pulled in but there didn't seem to be any shelter so I just kept going - only about 10 miles but boy did it rain. But the Sporty was brilliant - steady as a rock and cornered without a slide. I've got to hand it to these bikes - sure footed in the bad weather. When I arrived at my destination the bike was ticking over nicely. My bike suit was dripping. I completed my mission and returned home to an anxious Mrs. Jack who said "Surely you didn't ride in that storm!" to which I replied, "If ever I want to sell this bike - don't let me!"
Do you guys ride in the rain?

I don't ride in the rain on purpose, but have been caught in downpours a few time. It makes me pucker, but the bike did hold the road.

Harleys arent the best in the rain, heavy and hard to stop without locking up and enough power to lose traction at starts. Lightweight motorcycles are the best in the rain.

I was taking the forum mascot across the province and got caught in a monster downpour. Then an 18 wheeler wouldn't let me pass and the spray was unreal behind him. Finally got by him at 140 km/hr. It was an experience for sure. My dyna was flawless. Live to ride

And what is this "rain" you speak of? Ah just fugginwichyaman. Actually we do get rain in Texas sometimes - not much of it this year. If I get caught in it, so be it. I'll just get 'er home & wipe 'er down. But, I will not ride if I know it's gonna rain.

You could have not said it better. I'm a Texas boy as well. My rule is: if it's not raining when I go to leave I ride(most of the time it still doesn't stop me). But if it ain't raining yet, even if there's a %99 chance I still ride. Oh and after 3 years I still havnt bought rain gear.

that's my rule too , if it isn't raining when i get to the garage i ride . and yeah i've gotten wet more than a few times , and soaked right down to my socks more often than i really want to remember . never had much problem with the bike in the wet . ice is different ... that's how i know when to quit for the year
