Those are all very valid opinions. The main reason I was thinking of putting a bat wing on my sportster is because I live in an agricultural area. We have fields every where around here and the bugs get REALLY annoying (Yes even in the cold of winter we still have a bunch of bugs). Because of this I wear a full face helmete year round!
I would say about 90% of motorcycles down here have either a bat wing or a windshiled. Of course there are those few that dont seem to mind the bugs too much and ride in the wind.
I do plan to make long trips so some wind protection would be nice.
I dont need or want a fancy stereo or speakers in the batwing either, I just simply want the shield.

If anyone has more pictures or more opinions of Sportys with bat wings please post them.
Thanks again.

I love the batwing, but not on a Sporty. I don't even like putting the quick detach weenie shield on my Sporty, but it is sometimes necessary. I agree with previous posts. It's your bike, do what you want. And also agree with the post that you asked for opinions.

My personal opinion...if you want batwings, saddle bags, etc etc etc. Get a bagger bike. They can be a LOT of fun also.

If you mod the bike right they look ok on a sporty and you can evern get one with a radio and speakers-that would be nice. I would never put one on my bike, but I do see times it would be nice.

I am thinking bout puting one on mine also. I have the 1200c whitch has the larger tank so I think it will be look fine. If I had a penut tank then I wouldn't. I think it would look out of proporshin.

I have the small shield on my Sporty cause of bugs. Coastal Ga is loaded and it has plenty of splat marks from road kill bugs. I hate the look of it.

I looked at both the wing photos and gotta say it is like taking a Raptor and putting a turkey suit on it. Just does not fit. A lean sleek bike and adding a turkey suit.

I do not know, I do not like my shield and I guess it is just my Opinion, like **** holes I have more than one.

But it is what you like that counts.

Personally I think you guys pulled it off real well on you bikes. I have to have windshields on both bikes or I'll have terrible eye infection issues. Two hours of riding without, and I'm screwed for a week.

I have them set up pretty low on both bikes to where I'm not looking thru the shield, but they deflect the wind & bugs to hit the forehead area of my helmet. That works out perfect for me.

My question is, does the Batwing actually deflect the wind & bug above your eye level?

Thanks
