Great advice! Followed your instructions and got it to barely free-turn at all.
I used two small pieces of 3/16 vacuum tubing to plug the channels and stop the cap from spinning freely. It tightens up nicely now. Thanks very much for
the great thread!

I took mine off the bike last spring and turned it into a trailer hitch filler on the the truck when the ball isn't installed. Reduce Reuse Recycle

I have had the Willie G cap for a few years now and it does like to turn on it's own some, but nothing I can't deal with and it has never messed the paint up.

Guys... I'm not sure if yours just failed or you didn't know exactly how it works. I just bought the ***** G skull gas cap and mine works perfectly. What you do is put it on and tighten it... then tighten it some more... it'll start 'clicking'. Don't worry, it's a locking mechanism that prevents it from turning while your riding. Just keep clicking it uniti it is in the position you want. It won't turn while riding after that.

Like I said... you may already know this and yours failed over time and I just sound liek a newb. But, I've personally never seen a gas cap that works this way, but I've also never had one where the cap orientation on the tank mattered either.

Thanks for the suggestion Troy, but yes we know how a gas cap works. If your starts to fail in the same way ours did you'll see what I mean and you can use this thread to fix it or just get a different one fuel cap.

Threw mine out. Couldn't stand readjusting it every time I stopped.

It isn't that the gas cap is unscrewing. The skull starts to loosen and spins freely while the threads are stationary. While the entirety of the gas cap stays in place, the skull part of it spins around while you're riding.
