Default My 05' 1200c has the Hick-Up's

So i just bought this 05 Sporty 1200 Custom and it has the stock exhaust with a stage 1 screamin eagle intake. When i fired it up yesterday before installing the cycle shack slip ons i just got, i noticed it kind of had a "hick-up" to it. I recorded it and its pretty obvious. Im wondering if its just because of the cold (since its beeing sitting in 10-30 degree temp the past month) or if it needs to be re-jetted? I didnt check the plugs for any sign of running lean (gray/whitest) or rich (black) yet but i will. what do you guys think?

I didnt throw on the slip ons just yet cause i want to get this figured out first. I also have D&K thunder torque inserts to throw on as well. Hopefully this will give her a nice upgrade in sound.

Yes that's called a carb fart. A symptom most commonly experienced when running lean or when cold.

Let it warm up more before you start pushing the choke in, and consider jetting according to the jetting table for your bike's current setup.

assuming im running lean. Is this the right process to tune the carb before re-jetting it (if needed)?

Mine does it occasionally more so when its cold. I never had it rejetted and my plugs show normal colors so its not running lean in either cylinder. It doesn't bother me enough to bother with. My bike loves the almost open exhaust of the Cycle Shacks. I don't think the Cycle Shacks need any sound improvement. I think they're perfect as they are.

+1 on the cycle shacks. That paired with the DK filter sister and the air pouring out of those breather bolts is great.
