yeah, but when your're listening to music or have ear plugs in on the highway or just with the windnoise you cant really hear the motor. Hence the desire for tachs & shiftlights.
I have never had any issues hearing and/or feeling the bike with ear plugs or tunes in my ears. Also, I wear a FF helmet.
Somewhere back in time I rode a bike that had a gear counter light that showed by an illuminated number which gear you were in. I thought this was kind of handy because sometimes I loose track of what gear I am in. Does anyone know where and how to get one of these that would work on a Harley?

Whatever floats your boat though man good luck with install post pics!
Believe me, I would have never paid $115 for it, you have to look around, I won one for $13 shipped new in the box. yes, $13. but Unfotunalty, I had to pay $25 for the housing & $50 for the correct mounting plate which are dealer prices, but they are so rare to find I didnt have much choice.
It's just a gaget/toy to add to the bike, I;m not all that serious about using it.
It looks pretty simple to install.
I plan on installing it the week of the 12th, I will get pics up and a review of what this thing does.

Do yourself a favor, take all money spent on all brackets, gadgets, etc. and invest in a riding course!
A shift indicator has no place on a bike except in race applications.
"I'm not all that serious about using it" lots of posts and leg work to not be serious.
Where did all the douche bags come from? Is everyone grumpy from not riding in the winter?
Don't forget everyone, it's your bike!
lmao! I put about 300 miles on last week. It's your bike until it's a safety issue for others around you. I would never ride with someone that thought they needed a shift light on the street. Inexperience is reason #1, plain and simple. #2 taking your eyes off the road to look at a useless, novelty item is unacceptable IMO
