What bars for an 03 that will bring the bars closer to the rider without changing eve

Wanna know what bars will bring the bars
Closer to the rider without changing every single
Cable. I know the wires have to be extended and
Brake line changed. Mini apes or something
Similar? The bike is the one in the sig and currently
Has drag bars on if from the factory. Thanks in advance!

The clutch/throttle cables aren't your real issue. The issues are figuring out how/where to reroute all the wires that hidden in the stock "custom" risers and replacing your brake line. Should be able to go 10" mini apes by internally wiring and replace the brake line.

Do you have to change the risers If i go to
8" or 10" mini apes?

This was my wife's 03 and it had a set of what was called bad boy bars on it and everything fit with the stock parts (the brake line just barely), you can also get drag bars the have more pull back.
If I where you I'd go to a local indy and ask to see a Drag Specialties catalog and have a talk with them as far as finding something that would work, I'd bet just a set of stock 883 handlebars would work they are only slightly taller and have more pull back. Don't think about removing the stock riser it is a PITA to remove and get all the wire plugs hidden again.

Also Jag do you happen to know the part number for those bars?

mrfikser 03-15-2012 11:15 AM

i put the stock handelbars from my 11 roadking classic bars on my 00 sportster and it pulled them back some and I didn't have to change a thing....it also made them a little wider, which for me works....

I found a set at jp cycles made part number 500821
For 49.00 might pick those up. With some new grips and levers
Let me know what you guys think of those bars

Change the brake line? Let me know cause i am going to try and do
It myself
