Let's talk petcocks!

The brass fitting that my fuel line connects to constantly backs out of the main body of the petcock while riding. I'm over fuel dribbling on my pants and my woman. I called the local shop and they said my petcock has a vacuum fitting on it. I could replace with a standard non vacuum petcock for around $20 or a factory replacement with vacuum for around $50-70!

Now my question is, what makes this vacuum fitting so special and is it really going to make a difference?!

Vacuum fitting is for people too clueless to remember to turn the gas on before riding and turn off after.

Or, just put a bit of JB Weld on the brass fitting and jam it back in.

The MSRP on the OEM petcock body (p/n 62169-02A) is only $26.20.

All a vacuum fitting does is close when the engine is off. It's one more thing to go wrong.
If is unscrewing as you ride I'd take it out put teflon tape on the threads, wrap it clockwise, and reinstall.

Are you referring to the small brass fitting that the fuel line connects to? The hose clamps on to it? If so, when I was changing the color of my tins this previous winter, that fitting came put of my petcock when I undid the fuel line clamp and tried to slide the hose off of the fitting. I ended up tapping the brass fitting back it with a small hammer until it felt like it was seated and would not slide back out. No problem since then. Try tapping it back into place.
