Sportster or Nightster?
Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and am about to buy my first HD. I been reading alot about the sportster and nightster. I got a freind with one and his looks so sick!! I just wanted to know if I bought a 883 iron will I be kicking myself in the *** 6 months down the line wishing I bought the Nightster? What do you guys think? I am an avid rider but only been riding for about 2 years now. I ride my friends 883 all the time and if feels like theres alot of power (well enough for me). So I'm not a beginner rider

Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. I have a SuperLow and a feature of all the Sportster range with low suspension is that the ride quality is not very good. I suggest your decision should be based on what riding you like and the sort of roads you ride on. If you like longer rides and a bit of comfort buy a model with decent suspension. I have already modified the front and rear suspension on my bike, so it is now a Super-not-so-Low!

I know it's same frame and plat-form but I wanted to know if guys here bought an 883 and several months later want to get the 1200. Thanks guys for the info,as for what type of riding..... Hawaii (an island) so short distances. It takes roughly hour an a half or an hour to get around the whole island of Hawaii I was noticing the new 883 irons looks like a nightster. I like that look of a nightster with clip ons or drag bar and a little raise on the gas tank. you know that look

The look of a nightster with clip-ons or drag bars with a tank lift is the same as the look of a Iron with those things. Both are the same except for engine size and the iron has a blacked out engine and cases where as a Nightster has a grey engine and cases.
u should go to the dealer and test ride both and see what you like. the gearing in the iron is a lil different so it will feel plenty powerful.
Now I am not getting technical between the nightster and the iron (cuz their are differences) but they pretty much are mirror models
Here is some proof

I bought an Iron as my first moto and two years later do no regret it at all, I have been able to ride a nice collection of friends bikes ranging from an r6, gsxr 750, fatboy, and even raked out choppers. All I have to say is all of them made me love my bike that much more haha the 883 has plenty of power ( I cruise the HWY and can cruise at 100 mph easy ) ... Ive thought about upgrading to 1250 but decided not to mess with the engine and if I really want to get more power I'll just save up and buy a sport bike. Overall couldnt be happier with my choice ( also important is your size im 5'9 155lbs ) Good Luck
