Someone convince me to get a sportster

Hey guys,

I'm new to the sportster part of the forum. I've had my eye on a new 1200 Custom for a while. But today I rode a new Switchback and it was AWESOME! But here in Australia the Switchback is $7,000 more than the Sporty. I like both but the Switchback has 103 motor, floorboards and hard panniers. I need convincing that the Sporty is the right choice

Thanks guys

Have you ridden the sporty yet?? Maybe you should. It'll be all the convincing you'll need.

YOU buy what YOU want so YOU cant BITCH to ME about what YOU bought just because of something I said

I have both a 1200 sporty and a Dyna (street bob once upon a time). I love both bikes but they really are totally different in many ways. Ride the sporty and see which one you prefer. Leave the $$ out of it - yes, 7k is huge but if you plan to keep it for a good while it doesn't matter.

Look at it this way - if the Dyna is what you really want, you could save 7k buying the sporty and end up putting 10k into trying (and failing) to make it a switchback.

Depends on your size. I love the handling/speed of the Sporty, but miss the comfort, for me, of a larger bike. OTOH the comfort can be bought, to a degree.

If you need to be convinced, then buy the switchback. No big deal. If you do not buy what your heart wants today, you will think about nothing else between now and the day you do.

I've riden the sporty and the switchback and had decided on the sporty, but the switchback did feel pretty damn good. I was just hoping there would be a Yoda on here that could talk me out of the dyna lol. The sporty is great, but I dont know if the switchback has $7,000 worth of extra comfort.

Thanks for all the feedback (positive & negative)
