Baffles
Last night I got this idea to run a long bolt through my baffles and put a washer on the end for more back pressure at a cheap price. It sucked. Made it too quiet for me (sounded like most of the big Harleys) and it had this tinging clanky sound you could only hear off the echo from trees/cars, and it was very faint, but I hated it. Performance wise didn't notice much besides a smoother ride in low gears (less jerking, no tuner yet).
Now before I did this I took the 9" long baffles out and test drove it. Sound was pretty damn similar to having them in. Driving slow in first the bike acted like it wanted to die and taking off quickly wasn't too noticeable, but the difference was there for the worse. Reminded me of a rice burner. It gets loud but doesn't move a whole lot very fast!
Next time someone tells me how loud their bike is (usually non Harley) and that it has no baffles I'm calling them an idiot right then and there.
That's my experience for those who don't have experience with this. I could have saved a little money and time if one of you *** holes would have posted this for me.... lol
Question; Big city thunder baffles. Do they perform better than your standard baffles? Are they worth $80 or would I be wasting my money again? They look different. Mine are the small round tube with lots and lots of holes. I have drag pipe slip ons.
And then of course we have DK's baffles.... I'm thinking just keep mine and save the money. Not worth changing???
