^^^thanks. that's pretty much it. no harm meant, just kinda corny to hear everyone calling there freaking 48's and nightsters "bobbers". don't ya think? especially considering the above statement? not to beat a dead stinking *** horse here but bobs are old, very stripped down, minimalistic bikes. i love the retro look as much as the next guy but you'll never hear me refer to my bike as a bobber or a chop, just a modified sporty. no "educator" jason....i just call em how i see em. rock on brethren....
The term "Bobber" or "Bob'd" came from back when they guys came home from WW2 They bought war surplus Harleys removed every thing they could to lighten the load and cut the front and rear fenders shorter, called "Bobbing". That's where the term came from. So technically any bike that's had unnecessary crap removed and the fenders "Bob'd" is a "Bobber". I was a youngster in those days following this trend but I do still remember seeing them run the highways of So. Cal In the 60's everyone started building "choppers" as I did. So why rain on his parade IMHO it's a "Bobber"
