Recent work on my Iron
I picked this 2010 Iron up from a private seller in March. It was for the most part stock.
Had an after market 2up seat, and a Screamin Eagle a/c on it. I've been whacking away at it since. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y63...3/IMG_0795.jpg This was around April http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y63...3/IMG_1224.jpg I had done the usual. Tank lift with wire tuck, relocated coil/ignition, mreed a/c, speedo relocated to the side, rigid struts, chopped fender. I pulled the mufflers off and wrapped the pipes along with some x14iED's. Grabbed a 48 seat off ebay. Front fender on, front fender off, then back. You know that game. This past week I've done a few things. First off I wanted clip-on bars. I got a pair off of e-bay which sadly weren't dimpled. I didn't want to internally wire, or notch out my controls, or return them. So of course at 12am when I was wide awake I got the grand idea to chop some brand new drag bars with dimples I wasn't using, and make those my dimpled tubes for my clip-ons. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y63...3/IMG_1482.jpg choppy choppy http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y63...3/IMG_1483.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y63...3/IMG_1485.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y63...3/IMG_1487.jpg So I had enough of those rigid struts. I went out on a limb and purchased Burly Brand 10.5" shocks after barely doing any research on them. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y63...3/IMG_1492.jpg They're pretty, and black. Mmmm everyone loves black things.... Any how, the bike rides nice with them. And I like the over all height as well. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y63...3/IMG_1506.jpg Next thing I did was purchase this gem http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y63...83/Capture.jpg 21" off of a 2009 1200 custom. Came with the tire. Anyone have any idea what this is worth? I feel like I stole it. I read somewhere rim alone from the dealer is over $400. Having my speedo on the side of the tank was too crowded with the clip-ons so I fancied a little bracket and remounted it back on top of the tree. grancuda's pics of his bike gave me the idea for the mount. Props to you. I also got rid of the tank lift. It looked silly with the bars so low. I tried my best to do a wire tuck with out a lift. I sort of rushed it? I could have done a better job, I admit, and I may poke at it more. But it will do for now. I also relocated my ignition back to the stock position pretty much. Here are some pics of the bike how it stands currently after a few hours of wrenchin. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y63...3/IMG_1513.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y63...3/IMG_1511.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y63...3/IMG_1518.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y63...3/IMG_1514.jpg Critics, let it rip. All insight appreciated! I'll post better pics when I get them. |
i was gonna rip hard on your iron. Then I realized that was a bad ass Iron steed sent from hell. And the clip ons w/ fender chopped totally changed the dnyamics of the bike in a bad ass way. the 21 looks amazin

Love the way the raised tank looks!

Looks good. I'd love to chop mine up and make it a wicked solo scoot but my wife likes riding with me too much and I can't convince her to take the class and see if she'd like it on her own lol. What are you looking to do with that stock front wheel?
|
Tell your wife to just take the class, OMG, I never had my own bike but always rode with the hubby. If I knew how much fun it was way back then I would have had one a long time ago. The class was FUN and gave me the confidence I needed, I even made a 100 on the ridding test.

Hell yeah, dude. No complaints.... The bike looks killer!

Haha was I your clip-on inspiration? The bike looks super sweet. I wasn't the first guy on here with these bars, but it sure has caught on.
