Default Bars....

Looking for new ones... The mini-ape type currently installed are just too damned uncomfortable. They push me backwards in the seat like I'm riding a damn recliner, and it's hell on my hip flexors (muscles on the front top of your legs, on either side of your wedding tackle, etc) and lower back.

Want to get short-rise bars with much less pull-back. I dislike the clip-on look (imho, the speedo and/or tank should not be higher than the throttle on a Harley), and I think drag bars would be too extreme. I found this pair on J&G for fairly cheap that I really REALLY like, but I was looking at the same exact bars at the Hog shop's parts room, and there are ugly crush-bend marks on the underside of these bars (an unsightly groove on the underside of the bend)... I don't understand how my bars can be so radically bent, and not have these crush grooves, but the much more mildly bent bars have a crush groove!?

Anyways, looking for something SOLID (mandrel-bent, not crush-bent), but akin to the ones linked, for a decent price...

Thanks,
- CK

My apes were doing the same to me, I moved them 2 inches forward and it made a hugh difference!

I agree with everyone else. Loosen the clamp and push the apes forward a bit. But if you're dead set on shorter bars check out the Biltwell Trackers . Available in black or chrome. They have a lot of other bars available, too.

Those "crush bent" divots aren't from the bending process. They are for your stock controls wiring. They're often referred to as "dimples".

Bitwell Trackers on 4-1/2" risers...you won't need risers unless running the 4.5 gallon tank.

Head on over to Biltwell, they're affordable and you're sure to find something you like.

Have a look at the Moto, the Mustache or the Tracker (I like the Moto).

I have the Biltwell Four Aces bars and my apes used to kill my back too (and my wrist died with the 12"mini apes). Now I love being able to open up without getting the wobbles.

I came here to say that. But if you are set on changing the bars and don't want to spend a lot of money I have some stock 'bull horn' (or 'moustache'... whatever you want to call them) bars laying around. You can come pick them up if you're in my area any time in the near future. PM me.
