Default fighting against the wind?

So I ordered a national cycle street shield ex and it arrived without parts and making installation impossible. The shop couldn't ship the part in time so I decided to return the set. Tried searching for a brick n mortar dealer to buy one but there doesn't seem to be one carrying shields except for HD which only carries the 18 inch big shield which I hear has a lot of buffeting problems.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a solution to combat the wind fatigue experienced on a long-ish ride? I tried a blanket and even with that small little roll of blanket strapped to my forks, I felt buffeting. It felt kinda good to have the wind be blocked partially though.

I'm 5:8 and ride with 16 inch ape hangers.

Going to Vegas on Tuesday and will be riding two-up and not looking forward to being beat around by the wind.

Any suggestions or maybe even a windshield loan will be much appreciated. LOL.

I've actually ridden to laughlin twice and arizona once without a shield, but recently for some weird reason just felt that the winds have started really punishing me even on a 30 mile freeway cruise :S

buy a full face helmet for the longer trips. They make them with bluetooth devices for music and phone calls to. You can get turn by turn and make voice commnds as well. Either that or a fairing.

I wouldnt advise putting a blanket anywhere near the front of your bike. Ive "heard", keyword being "heard" horror stories about blankets, tarps, etc. getting caught up in the front forks on the highway and causing serious havoc. These are things ive just heard but its still enough to scare the **** outa me when imagining it. On the original subject, I have a "windvest" brand shield and it looks good and works even better. Very minimal profile but great coverage. I would add that unless you buy an Ultra or something like that there will always be some buffetting. Good Luck with the search!!

If you're going to be riding 2-up, just lean back on your passenger!

Ha Ha!

Apes give you wobbles. I'm much happier with my low bars...i don't even have to use my shield anymore.
