Dealer Service Writer, Royal Purple Max Cycle 20W50
I took my 08 1200C in for it's 15K sevice yesterday. I told them that I already changed my engine oil, no problem says he. Then I set 1 quart of Royal Purple Max Cycle 20W50 up on the counter. Service writer ask what that was for. I said I didn't change the primary yet, you guys can do that. He said I shouldn't use that in the primary, WTF. I said you guys talked me into using Royal Purple at my 1K service. I used it at 5K, and the 10K service and nothing has went wrong yet. Now they clame they never put Royal Purple Max Cycle in my primary, just my engine. I just told them to put what ever is in there now. So I don't know for sure if I had the HD brand primary oil or Royal Purple in there.

If this link works, here some of their claims including one that Royal Purple max is safe for wet clutches.
Personally I'm a little leary about using anything other than Harley Formula+ in my 2007 1200C tranny, but that's just me.

No problem - the royal purple Max Cycle is approved for wet clutches. Check out:

Harley approves their Syn 20W-50 for primary / trans lube so the viscosity range is fine too. However, these expensive synthetic engine oils have extra additives you don't really need for transmission oil so I'd stick with the H-D Formula +
