Should have asked "is it a Bar Hopper" i think most Sportsters are.
If i had to ride miles and miles a Sportster is the last bike i would buy..

No one bike "does it all" - everything is a compromise. Or, buy as many bikes that are "fit for purpose" for the different riding you want to do. But many of us can't afford this ideal option.

+1. You CAN ride a Sportster forever, but only if you're tough and do it up the right way. Most people aren't tough.

GREAT BIKE!

the reason why I started this thread is bc I think the 72 is yes a nice lookin bike, but for the weekend warriors that cant turn a sportster into there own. Hell its look is what an old school bike looks like after decades of original ideas from ppl who ride. Half metal half plastic rear fender? sounds like were gettn hondafied. I agree, sportys r a bar hopper/around towner, however lets look back at the original sportster an how long the legacy has lasted. mmmm??? Money can by you alook but not respect.

The big boys show little respect, till they catch up to me at the next light. Then it's all good to be on a sporty.

I have a 72, the combination of the somewhat high bars and forward pegs gives it a suprisingly comfortable riding position. Even with that bony *** hard little seat I can ride all day and not be in pain. I have gotten a rack and windshield for it and use it for long weekend trips....200-300 miles. Its alot of fun. Range is a problem, only 100 miles at best. must carry a gas can on the rack.

Back in the 70's we used to ride these all over the place, many days in-a-row & it was all the HD you could buy at the time so...you be the judge.

So you started this thread to bash on a bike model and the people who ride it. Now that's classy and a good way to get respect wouldn't you say?
