Default Avon Coke Bottle Red Sparkle Grips

I installed these grips on my 72 last night. They are comfortable and the install wasn't too bad. Had to move the housing on the throttle side to get everything matched up and back in place.

The problem with these grips is that they are two different shades of red once installed. The throttle side has a black sleeve under the grip so it's much darker than the clutch side which comes with white tape to use under it and therefore looks much lighter. I can't believe this made it out of production this way. Had they provided black tape for the clutch side grip it probably would look the same as the throttle side grip. Now I have two mismatched grips on my bike. I contacted Avon to see what they can do.

Here's a pic of the grips and I'll take a pic of them on my bike once I find my camera (wifey used it last and now it's missing as usual). The difference in color is a lot more pronounced when these are installed.

Here's a pic of the Avon grips on my Sporty. As you can see the throttle side matches the bike and the clutch side looks like it came from a circus sideshow. On a positive note, Avon said they will replace the mismatched grip. It's good to see a company still interested in doing the right thing.

You think with all the quality control BS these days .... they would have caught that before shipping . But any who , they sure do look good on your bike ! Ride safe !!

If it is because it is transparent then maybe adding black inside the clutch side with paint or tape might help?

I have a set or two of these I'm not using. PM me your address and I'll send them to you (free). Spray paint the inside of the other one black. The fit is tight enough that you probably won't need adhesive.
