Default Nightster battery issues

Been having trouble with my 09 nightster having issues with holding a charge after riding a while the engine light and battery light come on, I just replaced the battery and still doing the same thing, this is the third battery in the last year I replace, the bike has an aftermarket passing lamps and nothing else that I could think that would be draining the battery any help would be great. Thanks

Make sure you don't have an electrical short from changing the passing lamps.

Your battery probably isn't draining, your charging system (regulator or stator) probably isn't charging.

Had a bad stator on my 08 at around 32K miles. Seems like this is a common problem and not really designed or QCed to last that long.

I was dumb enough to buy the extended service plan so it only cost me the $50 deductible I'm still praying more **** goes wrong on my bike so I can get all my money's worth on that ESP.

Thanks ratrod bad stator huh what the hell else could go wrong it's sad when the tech at the Harley shop tells u that they under engineered the bike and that the electrical system stayed the same it and can't handle all the electronic stuff that comes with the EFI system
