Hi everyone,

On a 2011 sportster with the 2 tail lights that function as run/turn/brake, would it be possible to wire just one of these to work as run/brake only?.. I've been trying to do this myself but haven't been able to figure out the correct wiring.

If possible, how would you wire it?

I have the 3 wires, black/blue/purple.

Not sure if you can make 1 a run/brake only. kinda don't make sense to me. I ditched my lights and put a sparto taillight on the fender that is a running light only. I then put Alloy Art LED fender strut blinkers for blinkers and brake lights.

 

Just curious, but why didn't you run the sparto as your run/brake and the strut lights as just blinkers?

 

If you're saying that you use the stock turn bullets as run/turn/brake just unplug and remove the side you don't want to use anymore. Other side still works as run/brake.

 

The sparto light has just a red and black wire. Single filiment bulb. That's why it is a running light only. The LED's were set up as a blinker/brakes already so that's why I decided to just leave the Sparto as a running light only. It can be wired up as a running/brake light also though.

 

Yeah I tried this way, and it works but it will blink if I use that side turn signal.. I would like to make it only run/brake if possible.

 

I have the same setup as you currently, but I want the single tail light on the fender to work as running/brake.. The stock tail lights are dual filament so I figured there must be a way to wire it to work as run/brake without turn..

Would you happen to know how?

 

My Sparto had a dual filiment bulb...I used it for run/brake.

This is what I think I know:

Stock has 3 wires:

Blue - Turn/Brake
Purple - Run
Black - Ground

Is there a harness or some way to convert the Turn/Brake to just Brake?
