Question Proper tool for fender chop

Hey folks...

If I ever get up enough courage to try and chop my own fender ...
will this do the job or would be like trying to perform hear surgery with a pocket knife? (I've only ever used this saw for drywall)

Proper tool for fender chop-isdyj.jpg

It runs on the "versapack" battery packs... perhaps another limiting factor?

Thanks folks!

I assume you would change the blade to one designed for metal?

yes
I'm just not confident it would have the "power" to get the job done?

IMO, no. I'd use an air powered cut off wheel for a cleaner cut.

that would work if you put a cutoff wheel on instead of the saw blade. an electric angle grinder or air tool would work better.

yeah... figured as much.
Also wouldn't give me much in the way of smoothing out any rough edges.

Why would you want to cut a perfectly good fender?? Kidding. I used a zip wheel on mine.

I used a cut off wheel.

I didnt get the choice of cutting mine or not. It had to happen since someone decided to rear end me. Otherwise I woulda lost the tire.

So I really need to find a dremel tool suitable for cutting and grinding (with the appropriate wheel of course)

One more thing for the ol' Xmas list...
