Rejet after baffle removal
So a riding buddy bought a 2000 sportster 1200. Bike has drag pipes and a big sucker intake. Pipes have baffles in them???? I'm assuming the dealer put those in before he bought it. So do you think if we pull the baffles we need to rejet the carb. All opinions welcome.

I wouldn’t assume anything, but if operating well now then jetting likely has been done. Some pipes are baffled and some are not. Certainly easy enough to determine … shine a flashlight up there and look. Removing them may or may not affect performance. Give it a shot and see how it runs.

Once you take away the exhaust restriction (back-pressure) the motor will require something to compensate....jetting/adjustment of some sort. On a good note - it's a carb so the process is fairly simple, but get yourself a service manual so you have the references.
One caution...running straight pipes is "uber" loud and will kill some performance so re-think this project - what are you looking to get from removing these baffles? JMO
