Question Removing 48 seat

I read that to remove the seat on my 48 one only needs to remove the rear bolt then slide the seat back to remove it? But unfortunately, that is not working - after removing the bolt the seat still feels as if it is still bolted somewhere and it will Not slide back? anyone know why?

Try sliding seat forward and lifting up to detach keyhole bracket from the seat post.

Don't know if it's same as our touring seat(s), but there's a tab on the frame that matches a slot on the seat...can be tight so "wiggle" & pull, but be CAREFUL you don't rake the seat across your rear fender. Might want to lay a towel down & then work the seat off. Once you got it off - reverse order for install...good luck!

The 2012 Nightster one has only one bolt on the back. You have to push forward, and then pull.
There is some resistance when you pull, as there is some sort of latch under the seat.

Forward then up, not back.

I had a hard time removing the seat from my new 48 too. Had to push down really hard and forward at the same time. I almost had to resort to putting the front tire against a wall or wait for someone to hold the bike!!! Finally popped loose though.

Careful you don't slip and scratch the fender/tank or even drop the bike!

Yes it worked had no idea there was a locking bolt 3 or 4 inches up from the rear of the seat - and yes needed a buddy to hold the bike so that I didn't push it off the kick-stand, Thanks all.

Glad it worked out for you.It becomes easier after removing it a few times and becoming familiar with the process.
