Unhappy Word to the Wise 48

I'm sure other 48 owners that have had their bikes long enough already found this out,

I was running down a road jumping on it, hit 3 rd gear and opened her up and found myself on the rear fender being 5'7 this was Not a good thing just barely reaching the forward controls and not being able to release the throttle I had to first pull myself back up on to the seat before shifting to 4th and slowing her down. I can't stress enough how important it is getting a seat that has some sort of a back rest on it - NOT so much for comfort but to keep you in position on the bike when slamming the throttle hard.

I've experienced something very similar to this. Didn't make it back as far as the rear fender but damn near it. Now this was before I installed my Stage 1. Since then I don't think I've opened her wide throttle for fear of doing exactly what you did. A better seat with a back rest is on the "Wish List".

I actually had a similar experience when I had the Sundowner seat. Except I was sliding forward. When I swapped out to the Mustang Wide Touring seat I now stay planted.

The problem isn't the controls, it's the seat.
Probably for the same reason virtually every sports car has bucket seats vs a bench seat.

If you want to keep the look of the low flat seat, get mid controls because it allows you to dig into the pegs with your feet and keep you planted on your seat. I have had the 48 seat on 2 bikes and mids make it work.

I had the same problem but the stock crap seat didnt last too long on my bike. My 883 has mids and I think they are uncomfortable and suck. So if you dont like forwards, change to mids, if you think the seat sucks, get a new seat.
