What do you mean by "chip"? Did you have the Stage 1 flash done at the dealer? BTW, you should get free-flowing pipes or slip-ons if you're going with a stage 1 a/c. If you have the front plastic snorkel on the front of the a/c, then you still have the stock a/c. If the cover is open around the perimeter so you can see the element then you have what's most likely a Stage 1 a/c.

Here's my a/c from Hammer Performance (using Cycle Shack slip-ons)

The SE Stage 1 air cleaner that HD sells uses the stock ham can. I took it off, though.

Not sure what you're trying to tell me. I told the guy that the snorkel means you still have the stock a/c. If the can is offset from the backplate so you can see the filter then you don't have a stock a/c. It may be the SE a/c that harley sells or it could be an after market piece such as Hurricane Flow or Air Hammer which both can use the stock ham can. He said it looks like it has a paper element so I'd say it's probably an SE a/c.

Sorry, completely mind-dumped when I read your first post. For some reason when I read "plastic snorkel" I somehow managed to think you meant the metal cover. Not sure how I made that connection.

Coffee time.

Ok, now I understand what you meant. For the OP, here's a link to the Air Hammer if you're interested: http://hammerperf.com/xlaircleaners.shtml. Here's the Hurricane Flow: http://www.nrhsperformance.com/partshurricaneflow.shtml. They're not that cheap but they're great quality all billet aluminum air cleaners. No warping backplate like some have seen with the SE a/c. You get what you pay for.

For the OP, this is the snorkel of which they speak. It's the air scoop under this stock Nightster air cleaner cover. If your bike doesn't have that snorkel, you've got a high flow air cleaner.

If you want to see some really nice, 100% made in the U.S.A., customizable air cleaners, check these guys out:
Figure Machine
They make a bunch of parts including a few different styles of air cleaners. You get to choose the cover design and powder coat color, making it highly unlikely you'll see another like yours.

+1 for figure machine. I just put on the 5" round classic air cleaner. Great fit and finish.
