Default Fram oil filter on a Sportster

Has anyone put a Fram oil filter on a Sportster? I could dig one of those orange cans on my scooter.

I dont trust using filters not made for my bike, and its hard to find colors other than black and chrome, so I paint mine. takes a few minutes and eliminates guess work.

Fram oil filters are junk! Buy an oil filter designed for your bike and motor with proper pressures and passages.

I only use the HD filter from the dealer.
I believe k&n is the same quality, but I would not use any other brands on my bike.
As said above if you want an orange filter buy the black one and paint it.

Do not use Fram filters. As a many year service manager at a large dealer, we had an issue with a particular motor with the rockers and cam being wiped out on an overhead cam motor. Tha factory investigated and found silicone cought in the oil supply passage that supplies the oil to the overhead cam. After additional investigation of over 100 of these customers with failed cam/followers the pattern was they all ran Fram oil filters. We then purchased several major brand and factory oil filters and cut them open. the Fram had the least filter material, no bypass valve or back flow valve and cardboard ends that were siliconed to the filter media. They were by far the poorest quality of all the filters we evaluated.

This. I wouldn't put a Fram piece of junk on my lawn mower.

In the old days Fram were the best... They gave up quality in all their filters for profit.

I would go with K&N, HD, Purolator, or Mobile 1. Purolator is actually rated #1 on most reviews.

I use a K&N because it's got a nut on the end, easier to get off.

If you're that attracted to orange...paint the filter you plan to put on your scoot, let's say, orange!
