Default Little Friday Night Project - Iron 883

Finally got some stuff done on my bike tonight.

Heres where we started

Got the Biltwell Frisco bars installed. (excuse the disgusting mess of a garage)

Next was the DK Outlaw HiFlow air cleaner. (the sticker I made at work)

Still have to relocate the turn signals with the Drag Specialties kit I got. I guess it only came in chrome so I'm just waiting to sandblast it and paint them black. They relocate to the fork.
Still on the bars here, but thats my next project.

Bars, filter and XIED's done. Also removed reflectors on the front forks and just "blacked out" the rear with electrical tape. I think it looks pretty good so far.

Tomorrow I think I'm gonna order the Headlamp Visor Kit from HD,
This thing (but painted flat black of course)

Few questions:
Any one else with the DK filter, did you have extra parts left over? Haha I know thats never a good thing but I'm pretty sure the brass and chrome nuts and the stud are just options to attach the filter plate. Not sure what the other bolt is for tho haha

Also when putting the controls back on the bars, no matter what I did there was a gap on either the top or bottom of the mount. I couldnt get them to clamp all the way down and I didnt pay attention to what they looked like before I started. Was just wondering if this is normal.

Nothin too exciting here compared to some of your guys mods. I'm just happy to finally be getting some stuff done.
Thanks for takin a look!

Nice sticker on the filter cover! Can you not remove the rear reflectors vs taping over them? -only asking because I don't know your setup-
I had a small gap on my control housings with my bar swap too. Just keep them loose and wiggle it around, you should be able to narrow that gap like I did.

The gap is normal. Just make sure the gap is the same top and bottom. The frisco bars look pretty sweet.

The bars look great. It's nice that you didn't have to install longer cables, or did you?

Thanks guys.

For the reflectors, I didn't really try much to remove them. I remember seeing a video where the guy had to remove the rear fender and drill the rivits out. That's what he said he had to do at least. When I get some more time ill look into it further.

As for the cables, didn't need anything extra. Just had to finagle the hell outta that metal line. Took a little bending and pulling but it actually turned out pretty good. I'll try and get some pictures in a little bit here.

I cant believe how much more response the throttle seems with the air filter and XIED's. totally happy with the upgrade and would recommend it to anyone!

Here's the brake line. It was just a "it'll work for now type thing."
I do plan on getting a full braided line eventually.

Ive only put on about 30 miles or so with the new bars. It was 7 degrees here today but that didn't stop me haha.
I like the riding position a lot more than the stock. I'm 5'7" so I don't know if that makes any kind of difference but it feels more natural I guess you could say. I think they look 100% better than stock also.

Bike is looking good. Like what you did with the Sano Black Air Cleaner!

Those are extra parts you can use for different fastener looks.

Thanks Kevin! I think it turned out pretty good. I make vinyl stickers for a living so the options are pretty much endless! I can change it up whenever I want.
Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it.
