headlight & handlebars
My goal was to make the exhaust for my 86. Something simple to take my mind off of stuff. After staring at it for a while I realized that the big ol bars I made for it were messing with my creativity.

so I removed the bars then the headlight so I could get a better look at it.
[IMG][/IMG]
But after I removed the headlight I got distracted with it because Barnstorm Cycles made a really cool headlight nacelle for one of their bikes.
I cut two 6 7/8" long pieces of 1.75" 14g tube
[IMG][/IMG]
removed the mount in the stock headlight bucket then dipped it in this nasty stuff I have that removes powdercoating in just a couple minutes
[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
I cut a 5" hole in piece of 13 gauge (and almost caught my pants on fire)
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
I didn't take any pics of the next steps because I didn't think it would work out. I cut a 6" 14g tube at a 55* angle, welded the stock headlight bucket in the flat end of it then welded that whole mess to the plate I just cut the hole in

I started thinking about the handlebars next. I usually don't like risers but I want to use some on this bike because I'm not sure what angle I will like the bars positioned. All I had around were stock risers and none as short as I wanted so I made these

and then made some simple drag bars. I wish drag bars were cooler than what they are because I can make them in less than 10 min lol.

I never did get around to the exhaust.
I DID get to take my truck out for its 60th birthday!
[IMG][/IMG]
...but then I blew out my favorite boots...

Great stuff, the bike has a great stance, love the fender, love the rake/tire, looks super. The headlight came out great, really nice work, bars too, flows beautifully. I've spent three hours making a seat bracket only to come back from a test drive then cut it right off, it's cool too see that your spur of the moment idea worked out so well, good stuff, good for you ,looks GREAT.

You continue to be an inspiration to many on this forum. The headlamp is just another example, like your air cleaner thread that still comes back to life. (Running one myself, actually )
I can't convince myself to move back to IN tho, so, you gotta move down here to NC
-on the bright side, you'd get a few more months to ride each year-

Thanks! I can relate to spending 3 hrs making something just to throw it away. A lot of my ideas stem from ideas-gone-bad from other mods.
I made that fender out of a front Road King fender.
scuffing the sides brings out the cut line
removed the width of the tape
cut off the straight area after I tacked the left over sides together
finish welded and polished
