Default Handlebar Project

I am contemplating putting 12 or 14 inch mini-apes on my 2008 XL883C. I see a problem that I need to solve before I start the project. Let me start off with what I know.

1.) 12 inch bars
2.) Relocate turn signals to triple tree.
3.) Stock cables/wires should reach from what I've read(see number 4)
4.) Don't like stock slung-back riser, want to mount bars closer to tree.

Problem I can see.

1.) Need to redo speedo setup, current is integrated into riser (removing riser)

Possible Solutions

1.) Use a stock speedo/bar mount from another bike (possibly 72, or nightster) and drop my current speedo and indicators in.
2.) Buy an aftermarket speedo setup

Can someone please give me some input? Keep in mind that I am trying to do this on the cheap. I know the answers are probably out there but I've combed through forum after forum finding thousands of pages of crap I don't need.

Your speedo is integrated into your risers, or just the top clamp? Do you have a pic of your current setup?

Here's one I did that will help you deal with the speedo pretty cheap

Thanks for the link. Looks like I may go the Jeg's route. Does putting that indicator mount compromise the grip of the risers to the bar?

no, but if it does you can hand sand the riser contact surfaces just a little for more clamping grip.
