I'm back. I picked up an '02 883R about a month ago. I really loved my previous Sportster, so I figured it was time for another.

Then I had to remove a bunch of stuff. Saddlebags, toolbag, lock bag, windshield, highway pegs, etc. and replace a bunch of the chrome stuff with the stock stuff.

It's got a Screaming Eagle slip on pipe, Screaming Eagle Air cleaner, and a Yost power tube I guess.

The fork lowers were nasty, so I plasti-dipped them like my previous Sporty along with the little rack that came with the bike.

I knew the bike needed new tires. The tires that came with it were OE. so...

I saw those inexpensive LED headlights advertised, so I ordered one on ebay.

I also got some RK shocks to de-chrome and I heard they were an upgrade. I spaced them out with some washers, I found if I space them out enough to clear the belt guard, the stock bolt is too short. I got longer bolts, but they were too long, they would have hit the sprocket bolt heads. I can cut them off shorter, but for now, I just removed the belt guard. I installed 1/8" NPT x Schrader valves in the shock.

I put some pegs on that I had laying around. I was going to use them as highway pegs on my v-strom, but I didn't...

I did some paracord wrap on the forks.

I'm going back and forth on changing the bars. I like the stock bars for comfort, but I'd like something a little funkier. I've been eyeing these:

with these grips:

I've got this cap coming because the stock one is really rattling:

and thinking about these fork caps:

Other than that, I need to change the oil, fork oil, brake fluid, and primary oil and I should be good to go for the spring.

If anybody is interested in an inexpensive sissy bar of medium to low quality,
here's here's
one on Amazon for like 30 bucks. It fits my solid mount 883r.

The hardware is crappy, the welds are crappy, and the pad is shitty. For what I want it for (strapping an occasional bag) it'll work fine. I wrapped the spots on the bar where the holes are drilled for the pad. I also upgraded the hardware to stainless.

Wonderful, and this time it's obvious that you got the dual front disc brakes! Maybe you could add a tach now... like the one on the stock 1200R.
