I've not measured them. I believe HD shocks run 1/4 inch shorter than claimed. So anywhere between 12.75-13.0 inches.
Since you carry a passenger, I think you'd get serious bang-for-your buck out of these. Granted, I just came from stock nightster shocks so i'm easily impressed.
If you don't like the height or dampening, you could always add/remove air and change to different oil. Being able to customize the shock was a deciding factor for me.

holy crap! the Nightster looks f*cking BAD *** raised off the ground!!!! it looks absolutely beautiful from every angle!!! i love this bike!! especially the clipons!
and all that stuff strapped to it? priceless! thats how my bike looks when i take it for trips!

joe those aren't clip-ons. i inverted the stock bars. to be honest, its too much drop. i'm thinking of buying a bender and making a set of sport/touring bars. i like the down-turn from the risers because when on the highway i lock the throttle, lay down on the tank bag, and hold onto the drops like an old board-tracker. feet go on the passenger pegs. i can almost sleep in that position.
i'm probably gonna go with an 18" rear wheel and get rid of that big fat monster up front. after riding with a coupla vintage racers this weekend, i'm convinced fat tires are not for me. big round skinnies are where its at.
