I changed to the Progressive 430s about 8 -9 months ago and have been very happy with them. Unfortunately, they let me know how bad the front springs were in comparison. Which lead me to changing the front tubes to progressive springs. How do you like the Commander II's ? Curious because by the end of summer I'll be due for some new tires and I'm not a fan of the Scorcher 31's.

Its funny that you mentioned the front springs, because I purchased the front spring upgrade as well, but didn’t have them installed yet. Regarding the tires, I guess you can say I’m happy with them, I bought the bike used, so I don’t really have much to compare it too. I’ve ridden then mostly in NYC and not much highway or done any canyon carving.

New plugs
I was running an NGK r plug DCPR7E HEAT RANGE OF 7 these plugs worked fine (recommended from Advance parts store) gapped at 40 using and old wire gap tool and double checked with a newer slide disc tool. These were from last year My oil temp seemed to run 200+ degrees. I changed to the autolite 4164 plug with a power tip (Autozone), also gapped at 40 same procedure these plugs are rated at heat range of 5 after two runs the bike does run hotter with my oil temp going a bit higher 225(normal stop and go)-250(heavy traffic idled alot). I did recheck my gap and will be taking the 3rd tip today the bike is running smoother with less cough and hickups. That coupled with Shell 95 octane (I think it is the highest the station sold) It just purred running 55-60 mph coming home which was nice for a change. Just wanted to refine the engine a bit at a time to smooth out the running rough. I am going to 'clean' the carb following an old mans You tube video this weekend with it calling for rain. It does not look to difficult. I just want to clean it at this point not upgrade anything. Wish me luck.

My Harley is blue like yours, and part of the reason I bought it, and I want to keep it looking good.

I'm not familiar with your area. But I had a real pretty brown CB500 in the early '70s. A summer sitting in the sun faded that into a pale green undercoat. A decade later I had a red Magna and kept it under a cover I bought. A decade later it still looked new. I still have covers if needed when I park some places.
I think every CB500/CB750 that was that brown metallic ended up turning that shade of green from exposure to the sun.
