Yes, I'd love to see pictures, too. Shinko 705s are what I plan to go with once I wear the original tires out. I've run them in the past on other bikes and they worked well for me.

Found a chrome headlight cowl and mounted it up. Apparently when the bike was shipped something rubbed on the factory one and made a couple of shiny spots which I didn't like.

Yeah, I'm ****...

Here ya go. In the third pic, the angle I took it from and the angle the top box sits at, makes it look like the side bags aren't level. They are. After adding the lift kit, the top belt guard won't work, so I took both off.

Placed my Sportster on CL for sale. Gonna take a big loss since I put so much mods into the bike. Selling price is less than cost of all my mods on the bike not including the cost of the bike itself. Will be looking at a vintage 1980 Sportster 1000 all original in excellent condition with about 8k original miles as a project bike. We will see how everything plays out. Still love the Sporty....

Thanks! That bike looks like it is ready for some fun off the pavement. Good to know about the belt guards. I was close to ordering the roland sands belt guards this week and that would be a waste if they won't work with the additional lift.

What was the conflict? Did the lift cause the guard to rub or something?

The rear attach point "bends" in the guard, plus the new angle of the swing arm. Thought I might want to try to fab something to make it work, but decided just to leave off.

Firehawk, did you end up having success with the FP3 and Rush slip ons? What map did you use, and did you autotune? I have the FP3, 1.75" Rush slip ons and SE air cleaner about to go on my '17 Iron.

As far as the FP3 yes. I have a very slight pop on decel only at partial throttle. If I fully close the throttle I have no popping, it's only when the throttle is slightly 'cracked open' so to speak. Nothing I can't live with, and the bike runs great.

I'm using the preloaded MAP for the V&H twin slash and modified airbox and at the 2 firecracker setting on the decel popping setting. Haven't messed with the auto tune feature yet, and don't know if I will. The bike just runs great the way it is.

With the Rush 1.75" and Stage 1 air filter the bike is still pulling nicely when it hits the rev limiter. I haven't bumped up the rev limit yet, but seeing that I really may have no power train warranty since I tuned with the V&H FP3, I may bump it up slightly this spring.

All in all, I am happy with the results. Hope it works out the same for you.

Got ya. They do look good with them off. Thanks for the info. Saves me some cash on new belt guards.

What has you looking at the 1980 Sportster over your current ride?
