Not sure if it is the same as a 97 but here goes . Turn in adjusting nuts on cable toslacken cable all the way ,remove retaining ring onunderside of hand control and remove pin , remove hand control. . Remove derby cover, remove spring with attached hex lockplate , turn adjusting screw clockwise to release ramp and coupling mechanism. it should move forward and make the cable slack enough to remove it from the coupling.unscrew nut from adjusting screw, remove cable end from small slotted end of coupler. unscrew cable from primary cover.
To adjust after it is reinstalled , leave derby cover off and re-install everything , except spring and hex plate. With the cable adjuster where it is , turn clutch adjusting screw counter-clockwise until resistance is felt, then back-off 1/4 turn . Put spring and hex nut back on and cover. With everything hooked up turn cable adjuster until there is 1/16 free play at clutch handle end . pull slighty on cable until you get this measurement... I hope that this helps..Mark...

thanks a lot mark got are all good to go!

sumncguy-appreciate it sorry i didnt get you the e-mail i just went off of marks directions and figured it out...appreciate it though.

to sum up the installation of a chrome primary cover trim piece....IT SUCKS. ha it wouldnt have been too bad if i didnt drop one of the pieces inside the trans....had to take the WHOLE primary cover off to get it out. yup, lots of fun.
