RE: riding with the choke on
Cold weather, Choke out 100%, start up the bike, wait for the engine idle to break up a (5-30seconds), choke to half and off you go. After a mile or so (depends on temp, altitude, humidity) punch in the choke and you are all set.
Hot weather, Choke out 100%, start up the bike, wait for the engine idle to break up (5-15seconds), choke to half and off you go. After a 1/2 mile or so (depends on temp, altitude, humidity) punch in the choke and you are all set.
Note: This is only required for the first start of the day or if the engine has cooled to ambient temperature after such. If you ride to the local watering hole, have a few and come back out on a hot day, no choke should be needed. Just start and go.
Start this whole cycle with a fresh set of properly gapped plugs. Take note of your particular settings, how long you ride before you can push the choke in all the way and the relative temperature.
Every bike is slightly different so use this as a basis to go on and tweak to your bike.
