Guys...I just recently bought some vance&hines pipes for dirt cheap...they came off from another bike ( yamaha cruser 650 I think)..so I'm thinking on cutting them off to make some slip ons for my iron(2014) and modifying them to fit...what do you guys think?. Am I crazy?..don't bother?.I like moding things up and don't have a lot of money to dump on it as I run a family and that my friends is expensive enough lol...ok but any ways let me know what you guys think.
Thank you!

With a new bike I would personally put new stuff on it! There are mufflers that shape that will bolt right onto your bike, including Screamin' Eagle ones.
If you have to weld on them you will mess up the chrome. But if you are going to wrap them no worries. Also will they sound any better than stock ones? I say go for it. I put all kinds of old repurposed stuff on my bike.

Yeah I know I can get some nice bolt on new mufflers but I have the opurtunity to save a few bucks and have fun doing it at the same time..that's what Im after...thanks for your comment!

I'm not worried about the chrome...I'll be painting them black...I'm itching to do it! Thanks for posting.
As long as the pipe diameters are close, you should be fine. Mufflers tend to be generic within a brand - it's the pipes that go in that are the issue. If the V&H pipes are smaller than the HD headers, don't waste the effort, because then you needing adapters, running the risks of leaks, too much back pressure, etc.
