Default Oil Pressure Gauge

I have an analog temp gauge in my oil tank cap. I've been looking for an analog oil pressure gauge. Anyone have any suggestions on a brand or style they like. I have a 2012 48. I like the ones that install in the side of the rocker with a simple 90 degree pipe fitting, but that seem to be for the irons not evos. The newer ones look like you have to run a braided hose.

I would not waste the time or money for oil pressure guage for your Sporty.....you will be disappointed. Our oiling system works on volume, not pressure. You will show a very low pressure reading and most will not like that!

+1 - EVO Sporties work on oil flow not oil pressure. You'll spend most of your time looking at less than 10 lbs.

If your concerned about the oil temp and pressure I would suggest doing what I did. I got an oil cooler put in. I have the temp gauge as well

No oil cooler needed in Washington state. I'm a boiler operator and I like to keep an eye on pressures and temperatures. I would imagine that the pressure would change with the rpm of the engine. Volume doesn't create pressure but as the oil heats up in a closed system pressure will rise. Is the Harley evo just a splash system for oiling?

Not sure if we have splashtype or not, but you will see a very low pressure, especially when it warms. Plus you still won't see a large increase as rpms increase....still prolly won't see much more than 10psi. But if you do this, let us know hoes it turns out.

This topic has been beaten as bad as what oil to use. They call them idiot lights for a reason... Sensor bad, nut loosens, faulty wire, bulb out, etc. On the other hand, The oil pressure gauge never goes out unless you have no oil pressure. I don't care if it says 2 lbs you know you have oil pressure. My gauge is 8 to 12 lbs at idle and about 20 lbs running down the road... How many lbs does your idiot light say???

I bought my guage at HD dealer for about $60. It comes with everything needed to mount it to the engine, and that's where I like it out of the way. I only look at it now and then so it does not have to be off the top of the rocker boxes. Nice to know you have pressure when you first crank up. Also when temps get summer hot[90*] pressure will drop and then I go to straight 60wt oil and normal pressure resumes.

Not sure that gauge will mount to a Sportster, which is what the OP has. And big twins have more conventional oiling system, don't they? With more pressure?

Why not try an automotive style electric oil gauge? Like a VDO or other brand. I used an electric oil temp and oil pressure gauges on my VW bus. The oil sender had a terminal for the gauge as well as the warning light.
